Accessibility
What is done, what is not, and how to tell us where we failed.
Effective September 11, 2026.
Where we are
The target is WCAG 2.2 AA. The app and this site are not formally audited against it, so treat what follows as a description of effort rather than a claim of compliance. An accessibility statement that overstates is worse than none, because it discourages people from reporting.
What is in place
- Keyboard navigation throughout, with visible focus indicators.
- Color is never the only signal. Charts are checked against the common color-vision deficiencies — the debt payoff comparison does not rely on telling red from green.
- Contrast. Body text and links use emerald or a neutral. The terracotta is decorative only, because it does not reach 4.5:1 on our background — a documented constraint, not an oversight.
- Tabular numerals everywhere money appears, so columns of figures line up and are easier to scan.
- Reduced motion is respected.
- Semantic structure — real headings, landmarks and labels, so a screen reader gets something coherent.
Known gaps
Honestly, the parts we know are not good enough:
- No formal audit. Nobody independent has tested this, and no automated checker substitutes for that.
- Charts are weak for screen readers. They have text alternatives, but a sighted user gets more from them than a screen-reader user does. This is the largest gap.
- Screen-reader testing is thin. Some VoiceOver testing, not comprehensive, and none with JAWS or NVDA since the app is macOS-only.
- Dense tables. The transaction and forecast tables carry a lot of information and are demanding to navigate non-visually.
Tell us
If something blocks you, email hello@dohflow.app or open an issue. Say what you were trying to do and what got in the way — we do not need a standards citation.
Accessibility bugs are treated as bugs, not as feature requests to be scheduled later.
